The organisation

Ducor Petrochemicals B.V. specializes in the production of polypropylene raw materials (granules), and the marketing of polypropylene and polyethylene from its own production and from the parent company. Ducor is a medium sized 24/7 run operation, producing raw material for various industries. Ducor characterizes itself as an informal, flat organization with short lines where no two days are the same. In total, there are 100 permanent employees working at the plant in Rozenburg, and approximately 40 hired FTE on a daily basis. Ducor Petrochemicals is part of an international listed company.

The position

The Managing Director chairs the Management Team (Operations, HR, Finance, R&D and Sales). A further four people report to the Managing Director (heads of department, including Quality and HSEQ). The Managing Director himself reports to the CEO of groups business unit. As a Managing Director you are ultimately responsible (P&L) for the entire business operations and strategy of Ducor Petrochemicals.

This is a demanding and dynamic position since Ducor must continuously improve and innovate, focusing on producing and selling high-quality specialty products, with a high-quality service tailored to the needs of the customer. As a Managing Director you are able to lead and develop the organization in order to make the difference within this challenging and demanding market.

You create a high-performance culture where colleagues are willing to learn with, and from each other. You act according to rules of safety, quality and environment. The focus is on continuous improvement from a structural and organizational effective perspective. It is your task to motivate and guide people and the organization on this. You are a true leader. You investigate and monitor processes and strive for a high degree of cost efficiency in order to ensure an optimal balance between the costs and turnover. You are responsible for purchasing of the main raw materials and ensure that you negotiate contracts at the most favorable price. You are responsible for financial management, guarantee the capacity of the plant and monitor sales performance.

Your team has a day-to-day responsibility guaranteeing the reliability, availability and safety of the business. In this position you are in close cooperation with your team in Rozenburg and other stakeholders within the group. You are a reliable sparring partner for the board, and you will advise them on collaborations and acquisitions with a view to the sustainability strategy. You know the market, you are well-informed by good networking. You will maintain contacts with local authorities and industry associations, participate in various discussion forums and last but not least, you are a discussion partner for managers and employees. A handson, motivated, driven, entrepreneurial and people-oriented leader who goes the extra mile.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • General responsibilitiy about the plant;
  • Determine and follow up the short, medium and long term strategy;
  • Guarantee and monitor cost structure and profitability;
  • Management of change and management review;
  • Guaranteeing and monitoring the capacity of the plant;
  • Relationship management.

Candidate profile

  • Completed master's degree, preferably supplemented with an MBA, such as Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or Finance;
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a production environment, for example as a Managing Director or a position as a manager in Operations and all preferably in Chemistry;
  • Involved in people and the product;
  • Knowledge of the challenges regarding sustainability within the Chemical Industry;
  • Excellent entrepreneurial, managerial and communication skills;
  • Understands working with remote management;
  • Experienced in managing people and (larger) teams;
  • Helicopter view and a continuing focus on optimization;
  • You are familiar with structuring processes according to the methodology of Lean Six Sigma;
  • Stress-resistant and willing to go the extra mile in the organization;
  • You master the Dutch and English language, spoken and written.
