The organisation

Hardt, founded In 2017, is an European technology company that is developing the hyperloop. With its test facilities in the Netherlands, Hardt is demonstrating and proving core hyperloop technologies. The company has initiated the European Hyperloop Center, received an investment from the European Commission, and is working with European regulators to provide a pathway for the commercialisation of hyperloop technology in Europe and beyond.

To achieve net-zero by 2050, the global hyperloop network is an indispensable piece of the puzzle. Hardt Hyperloop enables convenient and sustainable high-speed transportation for everyone with the global hyperloop network.

The position

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a strategic leadership role and will be shaping the technological direction of Hardt and foster a culture of excellence and innovation. This is a critical role and an opportunity for someone who wants to seize the reins and become the driving force behind the future of Hardt Hyperloop. You will deliver measurable success across Hardt’s technology and programmes landscape, while thriving in a dynamic scale-up environment that values diversity and promotes professional growth. 

Tasks & responsibilities

In this role, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • As a key member of the Leadership Team and reporting to the CEO, you will be instrumental in developing and leading the organisation-wide technology strategy and roadmap, including design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, product certification and market launch.
  • Overseeing and managing the execution of the technology roadmap with in-depth involvement, proactively addressing and resolving technical challenges, ensuring a robust foundation for sustained growth
  • Leading and mentoring the technology team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration. Also supporting the team as they create performance objectives and ensuring accountability for achieving annual business objectives.
  • Managing and optimising technology resources and budgets to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Building strong partnerships with internal leaders with the aim to provide high-quality advice and guidance. Externally, you will build partnerships within the global hyperloop community, third party technology partners and vendors.
  • Being the focal point for technology related questions during different stages of project development, simplifying complex issues, building consensus, and driving swift resolution across engineering teams.

Candidate profile

  • Mid-career entrepreneurial technology leader with a background in systems engineering and product development in a complex high-tech environment, preferably an OEM.
  • Experience in the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, product certification and market launch of complex high-tech multidisciplinary products.
  • Have a compelling presence as the ‘face of the company’ for the technology domain with investors and other stakeholders, able to build confidence within and outside the company.
  • Demonstrated ability in building and leading high-performing, interdisciplinary technology teams.
  • Experience working in an international corporate environment as well as an agile and start-up/scale-up environment.
