The position
DBN is accelerating its international growth in the baby-food milk sector (IF, FO, GUM), and is looking for additional capacity of drying production in Western Europe. DEMETER project is a strategic project for the division in the coming 2 years .
The Senior Process Engineer (SPE) needs to work close together with another SPE, where together they are responsible for all the equipment in the new plant.
In the "DEMETER" Project (a new factory for spray drying of infant milks powder in Fulda, approx. 100km north-east of Frankfurt), the Senior Process Engineer takes full responsibility of the engineering and project management of the wet Process part (Wet phase, evaporation, CIP) and dry ingredients incorporation from design to execution phase and start up of the plant.
The scope of the Senior Process Engineer position starts at the Raw material reception until the final product packaging stage: raw material reception, heat treatments, dissolving, evaporation and dry ingredients incorporation. The related capex size under responsibility will be in the range of 20-25 ME depending on the selected scenario.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ensure safety through all the project phases (0 incidents, 0 accidents, with DBN and Subcontractors staff)
- Update and finalize the specifications for the process, associated utilities and bagging systems
- Ensure the implementation of Quality standards for processes and equipment
- Implement Danone engineering standards
- Integrate lean design and performance as key target of the project
- Follow up of the tenders for the different contractors and discuss lay-out, utilities, etc
- Analyze the offers and participate to the recommendation and contractors selection with project SSD in order to endure optimized capex investments and TCO
- Elaborate all the documentation for permitting or authorization purposes if required
- Work closely with the other members of the engineering team and ensure connections, interfaces and interactions with all the other sections of the project
- Follow up the execution of the equipment works (including acceptance tests, regular visits)
- Ensure the project is in compliance with budget and schedule
- Ensure support, training and knowledge transfer to the future plant staff regarding spray drying equipment
- Coordinate all the suppliers involved in the scope
- Coordinate the qualification and validation tests
- Organize and realize the start up of all the process equipment
- Support the production team during the ramp up of the spray drier
- Ensure compliance of the installations with FMG guidelines - Be the guardian that all FMG norms are followed
- Ensure and guard the smooth integration of utilities, civil works and equipment installation
- Contribute to build and adjust the Master Plan of the site
- Ensure the proper training is given by the suppliers including training documentation in time
- Ensure the as built documentation and manuals are delivered and transferred to the exploitation team

Achievements in 1-3 years
Complete realization (from design to start up) of the process part of DEMETER project, with the ambition of creating a "state of the art" to be applied in that fields for future projects in the division (design, performances, data management, qualification and validation methodology).
Candidate profile
- Must have: 8-10 years experience in baby food, dairy, food processing with spray drier
- Experienced in project management in dairy or baby food industries
- Level at last job: 8
- Degree in Food Processing and/or Engineering
- Experience with AUTOCAD LT
Functional competencies & technical skills
- Experienced in wet process and spray drying engineering and processing (dairy and/or baby food)
- Experienced in engineering project management
- International exposure
- Ability to work in matrix organizations (project team / factory team)
- Very good communication and presentation skills
- Autonomous and organization capability
- Ability to take ownership and deliver results
- Fluent in English, preferable fluent in German

Conditions
Salary dependent on experience, excellent secondary conditions. Possible relocation will be covered as part of Danone mobility plan.
