The position

The General Project Manager leads and directs the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Project organization and is responsible for the development and execution of the current and future RNG Project Portfolio with the specific task of improving the project organization capabilities to deliver the portfolio in a predictable and efficient way.
As such, the General Project Manager will be accountable for the safety, quality, cost and schedule performance of the RNG projects portfolio while preserving their business case and ensuring safe and reliable transition to operation of the facilities once commissioned.

The ideal candidate has an extensive project management experience in both front end and the execution phases. He/she has a strong background in both technical and business aspects, with proven skills in stakeholder management.
The role would report directly into the SVP Projects and will be part of leadership team of the RNG Business.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Manage safety in all aspects (process & people)
• Closely coordinate with Business Development / Commercial and other representatives from Operations, and HSE departments to ensure alignment between business and project drivers, including permitting.
• Develop further and lead the RNG project organization, securing capabilities to develop and deliver the portfolio safely, efficiently and predictably.
• Ensure adherence to corporate policy and compliance with the VTTI Project Management Framework driving rigorously the RNG projects through stage gate process.
• Ensure adequate governance is in place for the overall RNG portfolio thorough In-vestment Committee Boards as well as individual projects SteerCos and Governance Boards as needed.
• Provide assurance on RNG project portfolio performance approving project procedures and project execution plans including the scope of work, deliverables list, master schedule, budget, org charts, risk register.
• Actively Manage project portfolio risk register and convey project risks to stakeholders.
• Drive competitiveness in RNG projects by implementing Value Engineering practices as applicable.
• Drive overall cost and schedule performance for individual projects as well as the entire RNG portfolio.
• Monitor adherence to schedule, cost and quality and proactively intervene to avoid slippage by putting in pace recovery plans when/as needed.
• Ensure Change Management process is strictly followed to identify and approve modifications to scope, cost, schedule and quality.
• Ensure lessons learned and Continuous improvement is embedded in the Project organization as well as adequate post Operate Project Performance Management

Candidate profile

• University degree (bachelors or masters) in Engineering or relevant discipline with combination of qualifications and experience.
• Typically requires more than 20 years of broad and extensive experience, including but not limited to:
• Minimum of 10 years of project management experience leading project portfolio.
• Minimum 5 years of similar General Project Manager experience in the relevant sector
• A solid track record of project delivery performance in a highly agile environment.
• Strong technical background with knowledge of engineering principles and contract management.
• Deep understanding of project management stage gate processes and deliverable management.
• Hands-on, inquisitive, resourceful.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Vast experience in stakeholder engagement, driving performance of a multi-disciplinary team, self-reflective and supportive.
• Experience in the renewable gas industry is a plus.
